PROJECT GUARDIAN

Be the guardian of our flight and let’s teach everyone how to fly together! We are Project Guardian, a group of students from Hwa Chong Institution (College) and Raffles Institution (College), working with the Dyslexia Association of Singapore. Our goal is to tackle the stigma towards dyslexia and specific learning disabilities in order to create a more loving and homogeneous society where students can learn together joyfully. We hope to do so through various platforms: Instagram (@project.guardian), our website and also through the sales of our merchandise. We also hope to raise funds for the Dyslexia Association of Singapore to support them in giving out bursaries to students with dyslexia who come from low-income families and to provide education programs and other forms of support to people of various learning disabilities.
Our Mascot, Jr. Albert Einstein the Penguin, is the symbolization of the point of view of a person with dyslexia. Albert Einstein is an inspiration to our project, as he was first diagnosed with dyslexia but later on became one of the greatest successors in history! This further emphasizes our message that people with dyslexia are in fact no different from us and we should not treat them differently. People with dyslexia view things oppositely from the normal human, explaining Albert’s white body and black belly, different from the black body and white belly of a normal penguin. Albert is also wearing a straw hat despite living in cold climates, which is ironical to a straw hat’s purpose – to protect from heatstroke.
